About Us

My name is Pedraich Tubridy and I am the owner and Leather Craftsman of Highland Celtic Leather. I acquired the ancient craft of leather carving over many years of practice and learning as an apprentice artisan and what started as a hobby to supplement travelling to various historical re-enactment and motorcycle events has now become my full time occupation for over twenty years.

I have travelled to most European countries over the years and now reside in Maine, USA, selling my leatherwork at various events throughout the year (see our calendar page). And now also successfully send orders out via the Internet all over the world. You will also find selected retail shops (both on-line and high street locations) selling a range of my leather products.

I lived in Scotland for over fifteen years, first lived in St Fergus Aberdeenshire to Tomintoul in the Scottish Highlands and finally settled in beautiful Perthshire where I lived and worked from a converted farm building set in the “Ochil Hills” in Glenquey not far from Castle Campbell Clackmannanshire central Scotland.

Since then, I travelled to Florida in the USA attending various bike shows, such as “Daytona Bike week”, and have now relocated to the wild backwoods of Northern Maine, where I am once again in the Highlands, but of the USA.

For those of you who have never been here, it’s a wild forested place, with mountains, lakes and rivers. There are wild bear, moose, deer, mountain lions, wolves, coyotes, beaver, skunk and eagles, and a climate that has a real seasonal divide between winter, spring, summer and autumn. There is plenty of land and wonderful friendly people.  (Most locals are descendants of people who moved here from Ireland and Scotland).

The Celtic peoples originated from all over Europe, as well as from Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall and Wales. Celtic culture is just as rich in Celtic mythology, sacred sites and Celtic artwork. And now, as some of my forefathers did in the early 1800`s, I am making a home many miles away from where I was born.

My destiny clearly was to follow in their footsteps and travel across the Atlantic to settle in the new world. I have found many Tubridy`s here (we are all related) and now I bring with me one of the old Celtic traditions of leather carving. Enjoy your visit to Highland Celtic Leather.
