Step 1
Once the hide is selected (you can only use Vegitanned leather to successfully carve leather), to achieve good carving only the best Vegitanned leather MUST be used. This, unfortunately, is not cheap. So a top grade hide is selected for the project.
Don’t forget to take into account the weight or thickness of the leather, depending on the project, i.e. handbags and saddlebags require heavier weight leather than say a wristband. The next step is to cut it to size and shape for the item being made. We do this by using templates that are also hand made by myself.
