The Scottish Targe is the ancient “Highlanders” battle shield used for protection against the sword and other weapon blows and indeed was also used as a lethal weapon as some did have a large spike in the centre boss.
I have created decorative (and battle ready) “Targes” using the traditional Celtic leather carving skills I have learned over many years, and drawing on my experience as an active Scottish period re-enactor, to produce high quality carved Celtic Scottish Celtic / Clan / or battle Targe.
Using Vegitanned deerskin and painstakingly hand carved too produce a truly unique piece of Celtic Artwork you will be proud too show your family heritage to family and friends in your home.
All our Targes are hand carved, then hand dyed and finished, using only the best materials. Targes are 19 or 14 inches in diameter. The finished leatherwork is then mounted on 3/4 block board, backed with leather and fitted with authentic hand grips (optional) and a secure wall mounting.
Traditional Scottish Battle “Targes” can also be reproduced for use in re-enactment battles using lime wood and stronger fasteners for your safety. You can order this product, or a unique custom made one, simply by completing your requirements on your order
